Release Date : 2012-02-01
ISBN Code : 9781597978576
Book Author : David Luhrssen
Book Publisher : Potomac Books, Inc.
Total Pages : 316

Book Summary :

Public interest in Adolf Hitler and all aspects of the Third Reich continues to grow as new generations ponder the moral questions surrounding Nazi Germany and its historical legacy. One aspect of Nazism that has not received sufficient attention from historians of the Third Reich is the doctrine’s origins in the Thule Society and its covert activities. A Munich occult group with a political agenda, the Thule Society was led by Rudolf von Sebottendorff, a German commoner who had been adopted by nobility during a sojourn in the Ottoman Empire. After returning to Europe, Sebottendorff embraced a form of theosophy that stressed the racial superiority of Aryans. The Thule Society attempted to establish an anti-Semitic, working-class front for disseminating its esoteric ideas and founded the German Workers’ Party, which Hitler would later transform into the National Socialist German Workers’ (Nazi) Party. Several of the society’s members eventually assumed prestigious posts in the Third Reich. David Luhrssen has written the first comprehensive study of the society’s activities, its cultural roots, and its postwar ramifications in a historical-critical context. Both general readers and academics concerned with European cultural and intellectual history will find that Hammer of the Gods opens new perspectives on nineteenth- and twentieth-century Europe.

Book Summary :

Hesiod Theogony 800-700 B.C. is a highly engaging book that provides a practical methodology for studying the ancient Greek language. The longest of the three surviving works of Hesiod, Theogony is a story consisting of 1022 verses that describe the creation of the cosmos and the birth of the Gods. The work is divided into five sections and begins when Hesiod is authorized by Mousai to hear the story of the universal creation. Inspired by these tales, he composes Theogony. Theogony depicts the story of the creation of the universe from Khaos and the elements of the first deities. Being the creator and the leader of the universal civilization, the God Zeus plays a major role in the story. It is his weddings to Metis, Themis, Mnemosyne, and Eurynome, who represent law, institutions, and justice, that enable him to form the basis for serenity and prosperity among the cosmos. Dimitrios Kiriakopoulos grew up in a small village in central Greece, near Mt. Olympus. Although he moved to Toronto, Canada at 17, he maintained an affinity for the Gods of Olympus who were said to live on the mountain. A restaurant owner by profession, he still resides in Toronto with his wife and two children. In his free time he enjoys reading and writing. Hesiod Theogony 800-700 B.C. is his first published effort. Publisher's website: http: //sbpra.com/Metaphrasis-DimitriosKiriakopoulo

Kama's mission fails, and Shiva, roused from his meditative trance, turns his flaming third eye on the love god, burning him to ashes. Next, Parvati herself turns to intense asceticism in order to win spiritual power and thereby the husband for whom she longs. She succeeds, and the climax of the poem is Shiva and Parvati's marriage and cosmic lovemaking, and Kumara's divine conception.

Book Title : The God Chasers

the god chasers

Release Date : 1999-02-28
ISBN Code : 9780768499551
Book Author : Tommy Tenney
Book Publisher : Destiny Image Publishers
Total Pages : 152

Book Summary :

A God chaser is a person whose passion for God's presence presses him to chase the impossible in hopes that the uncatchable might catch him. A child chases a loving parent until, suddenly, the strong arms of the father enfold the chaser. The pursuer becomes the captive; the pursued the captor. Paul put it this way: "I chase after that I may catch that which apprehended me" (Phil. 3:12). Job was a God chaser. He said, "Oh that I knew where I might find Him!" David was one; he said, "My soul followeth hard after Thee." Paul was one too: "That I may know Him..." The passionate paths of God chasers can be traced across the pages of history from Moses the stutterer, David the singer, and Paul the itinerant preacher, to contemporaries like A.W. Tozer, Leonard Ravenhill, and countless others who share one common bond: an insatiable hunger to know their Lord. These are people whose relentless, passionate pursuit of Christ often made them appear foolish in the eyes of others. Yet, having tasted His goodness and glimpsed the invisible, they could be satisfied with nothing less. Add your name to the list...become a God chaser. Who know? You might be one whom He catches.

Book Title : Earth and Gods

earth and gods

Release Date : 2012-12-06
ISBN Code : 9789401033596
Book Author : V. Vycinas
Book Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
Total Pages : 328

Book Summary :

Earth and Gods is an attempt to introduce the reader to Heidegger's fully developed philosophy. The title Earth and Gods gives an im pression of not being a general study of Heidegger's philosophy. However, this is not true - the earth and the gods are fundamental ontological symbols of his fully developed philosophy, namely, his third and final phase of thought. This phase repeats the problems of both preceding phases in a fuller and more developed manner; hence, it implies them. The two preceding phases are the phase of Dasein and the phase of Being. These two phases are a natural flow of fundamental problems which reach their final formation and development in the phase of earth and gods. Dasein (the first phase) leads to Being, and Being (the second phase) bursts into fundamental ontological powers of Being (Seinsmiichte) which are earth and sky, gods and mortals (the third phase). Since earth is unthinkable without sky and since gods are gods in the world of mortals - of men, the title Earth and Gods is an abbreviation of these four fundamental powers of Being. Hence, an investigation of earth and gods is an attempt to present Heidegger's philosophy as a whole. Such a presentation provides the reader with the background necessary for a more adequate and efficient understanding of the writings of Heidegger himself. Thus, Earth and Gods may rightly be considered an introduction to Hei degger's philosophy.
